The Little Diverse Town of Storm Lake Iowa

Growing up, I always lived in northwest Iowa. Northwest Iowa is considered to be very basic, and in some things, not as great as the rest of the state. Storm Lake Iowa is a little town that is very unique in its own little way. It is as diverse as any big city that a person may go to. I never really considered anyone a minority because so many cultures and people from different places were represented in just this small little town.

The neat thing that unless you grew up in the area would be unique is that despite the fourth of July being an American holiday, all the cultures in Storm Lake are represented. Food from places such as Mexico, China, Asia, and of course the typical American hot dogs and burgers are sold at Chataqua park by the lake. After the parade everyone from town comes to celebrate with their family no matter what race or religion they may be. Storm Lake has this way of turning everyone's culture into a melting pot for everyone to enjoy. So the neat thing about my culture is that I get to experience so many just by living in a small town in Northwest Iowa.
