American Drink Culture

In last blog, I mentioned that my interest to culture is American Drink culture part, then I lists some points what I have already know about American Drink culture and some differences between Chinese and American Drink culture. Recent days, after careful researching online by different references, I found there are so many other unfamiliar things about American Drink culture, these things are also very interesting and make me understand American culture more.

For the first part, it’s about American like to mix other liquid with alcohol to drink, like mix red tea with vodka, or mix sprite with Whisky, this is very common in America and most people get used to drink alcohol like this way,  I think it is a very interesting part, in most countries, they rarely mix alcohol with other liquid instead of drinking pure alcohol like in China and many Asian countries, for me, I dislike  drinking mixed alcohol, it make me feel very uncomfortable and easier to get drunk.

          Bar culture is also another specific expression of the American Drink culture.  In American, bar is everywhere, you can even find many bars in a very small city. Bar plays a very important role in American Drink culture, it’s also an important place for people to relax and do some social work, there is no bar in traditional Chinese, there is no bar or someplace like this, people don’t drink with other people they don’t familiar so, there is much differences. Now, China has changed a lot, with the western culture coming up, there are many new bars were coming up, more and more young people like to go to bar and drink with unfamiliar people, but there is a big step for China to have a same bar culture standing in China, most people especially in some small city, people don’t know bar, even they know that, they rarely go to there.

          The party culture is also a part of Drink culture in America. In America, people like to have party. party means people gather together, drink and play games with each other, alcohol and games are the keys to the party. (Also, there are some formal party like some business party which aim to have business meeting, it’s similar with Chinese party) There are much differences between “Chinese party” and American party. In China, people also like to gather together and drink with friends. But the time is pretty different, in America, people like to have party after dinner, but in China, people just drink alcohol during the dinner, so in China, food and alcohol are the keys to party.

          There are many things to say about American Drink culture, Drink culture is one of the most important culture which can express a spirit of the culture, it’s happy to research this topic.
